Associate Project Manager

 

JOB SUMMARY 

Associate Project Manager works under the direction of assigned Project Managers to assist in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned projects or construction jobs. Responsible for maintaining contracts, change orders, and preconstruction design files as well as all production and erection budgets, schedules, and workflow activities while keeping Project Managers and SME management updated and aware of issues and concerns. 

Responsibilities 

The following responsibilities are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

  • Review, maintain, and seek value propositions for all assigned job proposals, specifications, estimates, and design proposals to determine scope of project and to develop adequate systems to maintain files
  • Complete and maintain all job project status reports (PSRs)
  • Complete and distribute project information sheets to necessary departments such as Purchasing, Accounting, Production Support, Safety, and senior management
  • Complete all labor hour calculations, maintain files, and report them to Production Control
  • Maintain master design set along with previous design sets and revisions
  • Work with Assistant Project Managers and Project Assistants to support the project team
  • Interface with SME-CAD or outside detailers to review project drawings and ensure conformance to outlined project scope and SME’s quality standards
  • May be asked to develop and maintain a weekly project status report for detailing and management
  • Responsible for project submissions to Production Support of Advanced Material Lists (AMLs)
  • Verify project material deliveries to Production Department
  • Maintain project file of all approval returns, SME agreements, design comments, and all requests for information (RFIs)
  • Update all master design drawings with pertinent RFI information
  • Function as focal point for project technical questions and answers  
  • May respond to shop, field, general contractor, and other technical issues
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

 

  • B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management preferred or equivalent experience
  • Possess software capability of MS Word Excel, MS Project, and Outlook
  • Develop strong working knowledge of construction drawings and blueprints. 
  • Ability to read design documents and familiarity with design specifications (AISC, AWS, and materials)
  • Ability to organize and maintain complex data, drawings, legal contracts, RFIs and answers, and miscellaneous information through a project’s completion
  • Learn to use and navigate FabSuite or other manufacturing production computer system
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of general construction contract and subcontract language
  • Must learn to develop, maintain, and modify project budgets
  • Ability to track Cost to Completes (CTCs), change orders (COs), and forecast future costs desirable
  • Ability to develop professional relationship with clients, general contractors, engineers, field personnel, coworkers, project managers, design, and detail personnel
