SME Steel Contractors, Inc. is pleased to announce its support and participation in the District 13, Boys Scouts of America Merit Badge Fair featuring the First‐Ever Welding Merit Badge. SME Steel’s Quality Assurance | Quality Control Manager, Woody Cook, assisted in the development of this exciting new merit badge through his involvement on the American Welding Society committee.

This Merit Badge Fair will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012, in West Valley City at 3900 West 4000 South from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
SME Steel, Ironworkers Local 27, Miller Electric and Lincoln Electric are sponsoring the welding portion of this event.

SME Steel is providing the plate material while Ironworkers 27, Miller Electric, and Lincoln Electric are providing the welding equipment in addtiion to the consumables—everything the boys will need. It is easy to see that this first‐ever welding merit badge will be of great interest to Boy Scouts: every session is filled. Approximately 50 boys will be among the first in the United States to earn this exciting new merit badge.
