Mission-Critical Aircraft Maintenance Facilities for the F-35
The F-35 hangars at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma are purpose-built aircraft maintenance and support facilities designed specifically for the F-35 Lightning II — the U.S. military’s fifth-generation fighter aircraft. These hangars do more than just shelter aircraft:
-
They provide maintenance bays for routine and deeper maintenance.
-
They include support spaces such as administrative areas, training rooms, parts storage, and secure systems for tech and mission planning.
-
The design incorporates F-35-specific utilities and infrastructure (e.g., environmental control systems, power/data feeds, tooling areas) that legacy aircraft hangars lack.
