The Marriott Library, located on the Wasatch fault, was renovated utilizing 128 buckling restrained braces to improve the seismic stability of the structure to withstand a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. SME Steel also fabricated and erected an automated storage and retrieval facility adjacent to the library which operates four fifty-foot robots. The reconfiguration and erection process skillfully operated two cranes in tandem around a five foot roof overhang. Impressively, the library remained open and uninterrupted during the project and was completed in record time.
