Russell Burkhart, Metal Deck Superintendent, schedules equipment to coincide with metal deck erection, ensures proper piece marked metal decking is installed per plans, analyzes and plans installation and construction of metal decking, assigns work to employees using material and worker requirements data, and assists workers engaged in construction including activities using hand tools and equipmentRussell estimates material, equipment, and worker requirements to complete job reviews as well as analyzes and discusses the project estimate with the Estimator, Field Superintendent, General Superintendent, and Project ExecutiveHe verifies that all required shop drawings, plans, mix designs, special material approvals, traffic control plans, and other documents necessary for assigned phases of work have been approved prior to start of project workRussell maintains the SME Steel quality program onsiteHe supervises and performs quality inspections in accordance with code and project specifications.

SME-CAD possesses the full capability to develop 3-D models with the content and detail protocols required by the bid documents. Our SME-CAD team implements QA | QC measures governing the creation and maintenance of each model to meet or improve all schedule milestones, notifies all parties of any model changes as they occur, immediately eliminates any operability issues when present, and openly addresses any technology, hardware, or software issues that my enter the collaborative process. SME-CAD General Manager

Brett Stapel has an impressive career spanning 22 years in the steel detailing industry. His skill set includes 25 years of drafting, detailing, and checking experience in structural steel fabrication with 16 years in a supervisory role. Brett has strong expertise using SDS/2, NavisWorks and AutoCAD with a strong background in construction and heavy industrial projects. He provides leadership, mentoring, and guidance to his team of 30 detailers, drafters, and designers. Brett provides leadership and direction for multiple functional areas within this discipline. He manages and develops interactions with outside vendors, as well as internal groups. Brett oversees the accurate and timely distribution and communication of shop and field drawing details. He is responsible for all BIM detailing project requirements and works closely with the project team to ensures structural BIM model is updated timely to assist other trades to also meet the schedule deadlines.
